Harley-Davidson Service Checklist

Is your Harley-Davidson due for routine service? Our team here at Pfaff Harley-Davidson put together this service checklist overview to help you keep your motorcycle in peak condition. Learn more about how to maintain your Harley-Davidson motorcycle near Richmond Hill, Markham, and Vaughan, ON, today.

Oil Changes

Oil changes are one of the most important items on your service checklist. They can better ensure your Harley-Davidson will deliver the high-quality performance and efficiency you expect for longer. Fresh oil will keep everything cool, lubricated, and protected.

If you use conventional oil, you should have it changed twice annually or about every 3,000 kilometres. On the other hand, if you use full synthetic oil, you may be able to go up to around 8,000 kilometres between changes.

Brake Inspection

Another important item on your Harley-Davidson service checklist is a brake inspection. This typically includes checking the brake fluid quality and level, brake rotors, and brake pads. The fluid may need a top-off or replacement, the rotors may need to be resurfaced, and the pads may need to be replaced.

When you bring your Harley-Davidson in for a periodic inspection, oil change, or other service, a technician will also inspect the brakes and let you know if they need maintenance.

Tire Pressure & Tread

When it comes to fuel economy and traction, the condition of your tires makes a big difference. If you ride your Harley-Davidson daily or very often, you should check the tire pressure using a gauge at home or at your local petrol station. Make sure it is within the recommended range, which will be listed in your owner’s manual, and adjust it as needed.

Over time, the tread on your tires will begin to wear down. Once they reach a certain tread depth level, they will need to be replaced. If you notice anything unusual, such as a bulge or hole, your tire may need to be replaced sooner. A technician can help you assess the condition of your tires and make any necessary adjustments.
