Serial1 eBike Maintenance

Electric bicycles are an excellent way to navigate the roads of Richmond Hill, Markham, and Vaughan, Ontario, while limiting your carbon footprint without a vehicle. However, like cars and motorcycles, electric bikes, such as the Serial1 eBike, do require routine maintenance in order to perform at their best.

Pfaff Harley-Davidson technicians have the maintenance expertise to service Serial1 eBikes, whether you primarily ride them on city streets or use them on rural mountain roads. Below is the recommended service schedule for both types of riding.

City Maintenance Schedule for the Serial1 eBike

The city maintenance schedule for the Serial1 eBike is divided into three service intervals.

Each Month or 400 Kilometres

The first service interval for the Serial1 eBike is at the 400 km or one-month mark. At this service interval, you should check:

  • Tire pressure and tread
  • Brake functionality
  • Bell functionality
  • Lamp reflector
  • Wheel spoke tightness

A service technician can also take the time to inspect your brake pads and alignment, as well as the lubricant for the kickstand and pedals. Charging your battery completely once every month will help the battery stay in good condition. You can do this even without using your bike every month.

Every 6 months or 2,400 Kilometres

After 6 months or 2,400 kilometres, it will be time to service your bike again. At this service interval, you will repeat all of the inspections and checks that you’ve done previously, as well as:

  • Inspect the frame for cracks, breaks, or nicks
  • Road test the bike to verify all systems are functioning as intended
  • Check the sprocket alignment and belt tension

You should also take this opportunity to fully charge your eBike’s battery.

Every 12 months or 4,800 Kilometres

Every year, or 4,800 kilometres, you will repeat the service you’ve already performed on your bike, from brake pad inspections to checking the sprocket.

At the 12-month mark, you will add a few additional maintenance tasks to your list, including checking and adjusting all bike bolt torque values, inspecting the brakes for leaks and damage, as well as true wheel service.

Mountain Maintenance Schedule for the Serial1 eBike

When you bike on rural or mountainous roads, your bike may need regular maintenance. A technician can recommend any changes to the maintenance intervals we’ve listed above that may be needed for this kind of riding.

When riding in extreme conditions, perform spoke tension checks every ten hours or after a particularly tough road. Extreme conditions may include extreme temperatures, dusty roads, uneven roads, and heavy stop-and-go traffic.

If your eBike has been in storage for a long period, perform routine maintenance before riding again.
